Hi Doc, and thanks... It seems of late, no, actually, for quite some time Nadine and I have been at each other's throats. I love that lady like you'll never know - and, I know she honestly feels the same way - it's just that every little thing, work, money, kids, household duties, bedtime, her folks, my folks, even something as goofy as the Remote Control or the thermostat - we struggle - argue. When we eventually do turn it in for the night - it's like The Berlin Wall is between us. She sleeps with her back to me, and I do the same to her. We usedta kiss a bit, laugh, giggle over the events of the day - plan 'tomorrow'... we'd wake up in the morning, first thing, and even with overnight yuck breath - there was always a smooch to start the day. Not the case now. Anything that can help us?
What color clothes does she look the best in? Huh?... Well, truth be known, she looks good in any color, I ain't kiddin'.
What's her favorite color then? That's easy.. purple. Half our house is decorated in purple... little Susie's outfits are mostly purple... Even our car is purple, and truthfully, I'm all good with that.
Where you work Hector, is there a clothing store nearby where you'd have time on your lunch hour to get her something? Sure is Doc, I'm three minutes from the Kohl's on Province Road... Without getting in trouble for spending - can you come up with some bucks to buy her a really nice purple dress? Yessir... I've been putting a bit of my lunch money away in hope that maybe we could take a small trip some day soon...
Good. I think it wouldn't hurt if you snatched a bit of that for a nice dress. Does she like ot dance, and if so, do you have the Spotify app on your phone? Oh Doc, she LOVES to dance, and I melt watching her when she does, and sure, I've got Spotify.
OK, let's talk the plan. Again, Kohl's, the dress. Wrap it up. Write a note. #1, write "I love you!" #2, write "May I have this dance?" After the rugrats go to bed, hand her the present. Doesn't matter what you wear, she loves you as you are. She, takes dress to the bedroom, puts it on.. walks back out into the living room. Dim the lights a tad, but not all the way. Have Eric Clapton's song "Wonderful Tonight" all ready on Spotify.... then dance away.
Wow Doc, I cant wait! But... but.. what do I say after the song is over? I don't think you'll need my help there Hector, as you mentioned that you love her like crazy. I don't think either one of you will have trouble coming up with the right thing to say... and it's my great hope and belief, things will go much better after this... If I'm wrong.. then hey, plan another song for another night! Hector, come back in a couple months and let me know how things are going, eh? You bet I will Doc, thanks! Is this how you try to 'fix' a lot of couples?
Not usually Hector. You and Nadine have a great head start on others. Life has gotten in the way, which, happens to you, me and every couple in the world. Music speaks Hector. Sometimes when we don't know the right words to grasp, say, we can 'borrow' from a song and it's an elixir. Good luck my friend.
----------------------------------------- Two months later ----------------------------------
Hector, grinning ear to ear, greets the Doc as he walks him into his office. Man Doc, I GOTTA thank you so much... things have been a LOT better... yes, life can still get stressy - but we've been careful with our words... and Doc, we found a LOT more songs on Spotify, now it's our own little special date once a week or so after the kids snooze!
Great to hear Hector... good things can happen to good people. Thanks Doc, but hey, you never sent me a bill? Hector, you spent a little extra on that dress... and besides, it really wasn't me that fixed, cured anything. It was the two of you, AND, music. Music lifts the soul!
Wow Doc, you're the man, THANK YOU! Do I need to set another appointment? Something tells me Hector and Nadine will be just fine - no, Hector, you enjoy your time with Nadine, and, the dancing too.
Thanks again Doc! I got some pep in my step today, and have had for a couple months! Awesome Hector, continued good luck. Thanks Doc.... oh..... one more quick question... Where do you and your wife buy her maternity outfits? (wink)..........
And the walls.. come tumblin' down..... Thank you music.
Love, Victurd
