Did you ever have to makeup your mind?

(Like all of my goofy blogs, much, MUCH, in this short one is stolen from articles I sought out)..

Fries or tots?  Pepsi or Coke?  Hot or mild sauce? Smoking or non-smoking? Coffee or tea? Popcorn or peanuts? Regular or unleaded?  (Get with the program Victor, regular [leaded] gas has been illegal since 1970.)

Oh.  Thanks.

Did you ever have to make up your mind?
You pick up on one and leave the other behind
It's not often easy and not often kind
Did you ever have to make up your mind?

One of the long list of chickies that ran me off once said "You have avoidance behavior." I'm not really sure how to feel about that.

August 21, 1927, three days after her birth, she met him. He was three.  Their families were friends. Town only had 600 people, so sure, they'd bump into each other now and then...they weren't 'fast friends' but, she was very good friends with his kid sister.

Ready to lead, ready to follow, never quit. As in, Navy. As in, kid sister showed her a photo of him taken in his Navy duds as he was off to the United States Naval Academy. "I thought he was the most handsome young man I'd ever seen. I knew this was the person I would fall in love with, the person I wanted to have fall in love with me, but I never thought it would happen."

Holy guacamole, she done decided?

Kid sister wanted to be the matchmaker, so, invited her to a picnic where her brother would be. She, OK, Rosalyn, worried the real thing wouldn't match the image in her mind.  They talked, he teased a tad. Happy, "I could talk, actually talk to him."

Did you ever have to make up your mind?

He, yes, Jimmy, musta kinda been enthralled as well as later that day, he drove by church - saw her walking out........asked her if she'd go to the movies with him, his kid sister and her boyfriend. Peanuts or popcorn?  So, her answer was "yes", popcorn it is, even though the town, Plains, GA, was infamous for peanuts.

It went well.  How well?  Well, he snuck in a smooch.  She'd never eva' let a guy sneak in a smooch on the first date.  The next morning, Jimmy told his mama "I'm going to marry her."

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality, open your eyes, look up to the skies and see.

But then................ uh oh.

Yeah, but then, the night after Jimmy and Ros' went out, he had a date with another gal. Then came time for him to go back to Annapolis.  Ruth, Jimmy's sister, twisted Ros's arm to go with her, and they went to see Jimmy off at the train station.  He apologized to her, told her he'd very much rather had been with her.. He asked her if she'd write.

She did.

He encouraged her to go, see others, have fun, "don't wait around on me." Did you ever have to make up your mind?  That made her mad. But, she did so, go out with "boys who were really just friends" and she wrote him of same.

Did you ever have to make up your mind.

He did. He made up his mind, asked if she would see him exclusively.

ILYTG.

"I love you the goodest" became his, their catch phrase.

Married within a year after his graduation.  77 years.  Wow.  RIP Rosalyn Carter.

A wonderful life. They lived a life of giving. 209 Woodland Drive, Plains, GA.  Popcorn, peanuts, caviar maybe?  They chose peanuts, as in Plains.  Since 1960, they've lived in the same house.

Perfect?  Is anyone?  Perfect for each other, yes.

Did you ever have to make up your mind?  They did, each.  Very early in the game. It was A HEAPIN' HELPIN', way more than a Lovin' Spoonful.  77 years.  A lifetime.

Two minds made up. TLEOTTG (They loved each other to the goodest.)

Love, Victurd
