Senior Sampler.........

Must be the Season of the Witch, yeah......

My brain, unlike my body (and my driving habits) goes a hunnerd mph. I think I think, too much. My brain flew over the last month or so of weather here in the Midwest, and wowza, weird.

Wind. The last month plus has been all about wind.  Wind plays hell on your golf shot, driving ('specially them big rigs), walking, talking, listening, your neighbor's leaves, yada.

And then, the last week or so, people here noticed the rain gauge wasn't half full.. that puppy was overflowing. Mud, flood, hydroplane, creeks become baby rivers, the low spots become 'feeshin' pond mirages, dams say 'damn' as they let out water, wet, yuck, clack clack, quack quack.

So............................. Donovan, the hurdy gurdy man, had set my brain on seasons... as in, that's the way, uh huh uh huh, I like living in the Midwest. Change, hell to the yeah, Moffitt, you go ahead and jump in your pool March thru November, I'm enjoying enjoying and suffering Change here.  I truly do like the Seasons.  They're like people, some you enjoy more than others.

I read 7 different interpretations of the song, and it was like I was reading CNN, FOX, MSNBC, Washington Post, New York Times,  The Onion, yada... it was boring (like they are) and, it/they spoke to what it's like walking out the door here, ya just never know. (In the trunk of your car, keep swim trunks, shortsleeve, longsleeve, longjohns, sandals, galoshes, yada.)

To Every Thing Turn Turn Turn....... there is a season, turn, turn.

VICTOR?  Yes?  You're bringing up songs from 19sixty-sumpin.  Uh huh.  Some here might not even'a been born then. Well then we'll call 'em whippersnappers and party on. There, Party On, that's from SNL from the late 80's, that better?

Change.  Adapt.  Sometimes, that's dayum hard.  I try, I really try to not let life, stuff, fluster me.   Then, I go to some new, goofy website, all this crap pops up, I click to close it.... oh hell to the no, when closing, I accidentally opened it, and, by the time I figure a way to close it, I forget whereinthehell I was, and whatinthehell I was readin.'

Or...... it may then pop up options........ 'Stop seeing this ad?  This ad is offensive.' 'Report this ad." I slowly change from wimpy me to THE INCREDIBLE HULK (ie, old, flustered internet dude) and scream aloud (to no one) JUST GET ME BACK TO THE DAMN PAGE.

And it does.  And more crap pops up.  My nine inch monitor has the bottom 7 inches filled with crap I have ZERO interest in, I'm trying to read the top 2" where the meat'a my article is, I click to scroll it, again, accidentally clicking open to some ad, I click to close it,  'Stop seeing this ad?"  "This ad is offensive."  "Report this ad." NO, NO AND NO, just GET ME back to where I was and remind me whatinthehell I was reading.

Victor you cancelled your anti-anxiety meds some time back didn't ya.

Mebbe. Bite me

I have trouble with change.  I liked our airport. I don't need no stinking Downtown baseball field. Wind, you suck, Rain Rain Go Away......... gimme Sunshine on a Cloudy day... Victor, change things up, that's the 3rd 1960 song in this blog.  Bite me! Stop seeing this blog?  This blog is offensive? Report this blog? And yeah, stick THAT up your Funk and Wagnall.  Sorry, kinda, not.

This all started this morning, early. OK, that's a lie.  Me and the Customer Service folks at the Kansas City Star, let's just say we ain't on the same page for some time now.  My subscription started around $20-something long ago, slowly rose to $30-something, I understand, get it, inflation.  Along the way, my subscription would run out and they'd send me a bill for like $2000 a month. OK, that ain't exactly correct, but it was a rate where "ARE YOU FRIGGING KIDDING ME?" was in order. So......... after many instances of that, PLUS, my rate inching up to $40, the news within being two days old, I opted for the much cheaper E edition.

Has been going good. Then, they sent a bill for $2000 or so. Again, i embellish, but it was a cussword invoking amount. I called Customer Service.  "It looks like you're calling from...... is this the number on the account you are calling about" Yes.  In just a few words, please tell us what you're calling. You did it again Bitch! (I didn't say bitch, I'd heard some whippersnappers say that, kinda liked it, but I didn't use it.) I'm sorry, I didn't understand, can you repeat that? YOU DID IT AGAIN! Ultimately fixed, pacified, E paper going well.

Then. Ten emails about "Improvements, big things happening, coming your way."  Oh joy, more change.  We listened to our readers, interactive puzzles, games coming. Hell to the yeah, gimme gimme gimme Sudoku, and, I've missed the Universal Crossword, THAT TOO.

Today. I ALWAYS read the sports first.  Gone. Basta was gone.  Eh, it was a little before 5a. They usually have  it FER SURE on there by 5a, so I awaited that. New and improved (to everything turn, turn, turn - CHANGE). While I was awaiting, I figured I'd devour a game of Sudoku. Crap. Same ole same ole, bottom 7 inches - ADS, top two inches, hurt my neck straining the 2 inch space for Sudoku. Then, I couldn't even get that to scroll up, open.  Two more quarters in the cuss jar.  Back to check on last night's Sports.

NO WHERE TO BE FOUND.  This new and improved really...........STINKS. Finally, after 112 clicks, I found access to the latest local sport's news.  I felt ready for a nap, but, I almost always feel ready for a nap.

Point is.  I love, hate, change. Change (too cold) is why I gave up being a stripper.  Change, is what I stupidly did for years when I no likey'ed a job, or some aspect of therein.  Change, is what them women that would come into my life did, as in, change addresses.

I DO get upset, but, the above is a bit of a stretch, mosta the time.  I do enjoy change in the weather, but admit to cussing at wind, snow, rain, ice.  I truly DO love women, but, to me, it's akin to juggling.  How many jugglers have you ever seen that juggle forever?

Hey, maybe I'll dye my hair
Maybe I'll move somewhere
Maybe I'll get a car
Maybe I'll drive so far they'll all lose track
Me, I'll bounce right back
Maybe I'll sleep real late
Maybe I'll lose some weight
Maybe I'll clear my junk
Maybe I'll just get drunk on apple wine
Me, I'll be just
Fine and dandy
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still, I won't let sorrow bring me way down.
HA! From 1984! -
I honestly DO enjoy adaptation.  I love that people are different. I love that I live by me SS payday: just paid, best lasagna in town... two weeks in, "let's see, what can i get fairly cheap on the Mickey D app?  Three days before the midnight check arrival... "Ya know, I actually do kinda like this Great Value peanut butter." Day before 3rd Wednesday, "Ya know, these $1 Banquet Chicken Pot Pies are The Bomb!"
CHANGE: All about life.  Weather. Remotes. Balance in bank account. Daily situations. Oh the games people play. The golf we play. Undies (M, W, F, S). Tires. Oil. Zuck, Meta, Twitter, X, geezers in the White House...... tons.  Even the Royals.  Chiefs change roster, remain much the same.
Victor, you've written to much. Time to change to something else in your day.
That does it, I'm calling my Doc to get them anxiety pills again........
Ring, ring, ring........"TY for calling such-n-such Doctor, please press 1 for English."
I'm reminded of long ago.......... The 60's Victor?  No... a tad later. Ex and I took the bus across the border into Tiajuana, it ain't far. On the way home, we decided to go by Taxi. Reached the border, all I had was a fitty, which, back then, was a decent chunka change.  Handed it to driver "Ohhhhh, NO CHANGE NO CHANGE SENOR'!"
I likes me some change.
Love, Victurd

Home cookin'.............

Whatever pleases your palate...  floats your boat.

Cooking.  'Structions, ie, recipes.

I'm weird, but you knew that.  For sure I have weird eating habits, and, mebbe the same could be said about "take on life", likes, dislikes, huh uh - not that, SECONDS, yes please!

When we plan to devour that thing called life...... we pick and choose (go right ahead, call me judgmental) the 'ingredients of what's in our crock pot of life.

Ifn's we're going to a big gala (note, I ain't been to a big gala in a long, long time) we must get the book our (plan), find the ingredients... go to Piggly... buy... put groceries away... turn to page in book for that exact recipe.. read, reread, line up pots, pans, and mark, set, go, cook.

A wedding. A reunion. A Baptism. A loved one coming home from overseas for heap big family, friend party.  MUCH planning.  Tedious but worth it.  That group, The Undisputed Truth, I remember they sang "Smiling faces, smiling faces, sometimes, they don't tell the truth."  Well, scram there band because yummy, hella many ingredient meals, coinciding with a purpose, a love, loved ones - is YUMMY, that, is the undisputed truth.

Then, there are times, ya don't put on makeup... you don't wear a bra  (me neither).. ya throw on comfy clothes (not runway model clothes) and GO.  A last minute planned "yeah, lets."  LET'S means LET US.  This is akin to microwave cooking.

I'm a pickin' and I'm a grinnin.  We do do that when selecting where, what to eat away from home.  This kinda mealtime is like friends.  We want familiarity.  "It's always fun when we hang out with them", ie, akin to picking our fav' Ital, Mex, Chinese, greasy spoon, yada.  We go, do, eat, again and again. Over the years, if we don't make occasional pit stops to the gym or the high school track, we get fat and happy.  Oh well, certainly could be worse.

"If you are a chef, no matter how good a chef you are, it's not good cooking for yourself, the joy is cooking for others, the same with music."   will.i.am

Then, in life, there's mates.  Meals with mates.  Well planned, "I'm doing this for you because I love you" kinda meals.  Neatly arranged plates, forks, spoons.  Centerpiece with a candle providing just the right amounta light for them lean  in soft kisses.  Ulterior motive there Mister?  Well, this song came to mind.......

So rock me mama like a wagon wheel,
Rock me mama anyway you feel
Hey mama rock me
Rock me mama like the wind and the rain
Rock me mama like a south-bound train
Hey mama rock me

The meal doesn't necessarily have to include pork in the ingredients but trust me, there's some piggy around somewhere!

Likes, dislikes.  I'm sorry, I just don't think I want to  selectively choose him/her to play golf with again.  ie, next time ya make a meal (tee time) from the recipe list, cut (parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, kale, garlic, onion powder - whatever/whoever it is ya ain't gotta hankerin' for.

Damn you Victor, I know I've seen you say before here "I love all people."   Uh huh, do, but that don't necessarily mean I wanna sit by 'em in the golf cart, or at the Olive Garden, for hours upon hours.  You know, it's like Charlie.  Try as we/some might, there ain't no gettin' away from who we/some are.  VICTOR!  That's kinda uppity ain't it?  Exclusive?  Not no's, but hells nots.  I am FULLY aware, try as I might, some just don't like me.  I can deal with that. We can hang with who we wanna hang with, cook with what, how, we wanna.   "Sorry Charlie, Starkist does not want tunas with good taste, Starkist wants tunas that taste good."   Fancy for, more like me, us, fun, yummy, let's.. let's gather again, go, do, eat, same thing.

Victor, this is boring, you've got 45 minutes before you need to go to work, you still need gas, purchase something to take back home...  pun mebbe intended, PUT A LID ON IT.

Cooking, eating, choices, pickin', grinnin', it's all like life.  There for the choosing.  We are different. Similar. We filter.  We might throw in another pinch, tsp, tbsp, cup... we might not include things that our not to our liking (doesn't mean we protest, boycott, denounce - we just go another way.)

"Food, to me, is always about cooking and eating with those you love and care for."  David Chang

Victor, you're slipping.  A whole damn blog, not too many songs.

Day-O, day-o,come mister tally man, tally me banana....

Cheeseburger in paradiseHeaven on Earth with an onion sliceNot too particular, not too preciseI'm just a cheeseburger in paradise

Goodbye, Joe, he gotta go, me oh my ohHe gotta go-pole the pirogue go down the BayouHis Yvonne the sweetest one, me oh my ohSon of a gun, we'll have big fun on the Bayou

YOU tell 'em Hank, Jambalaya, I'll pat ma' foot and I really do gotta go to work.

Cook up a good day friends........

I can dig it, he can dig it She can dig it, we can dig it They can dig it, you can dig it Oh, let's dig it

SATURDAY MAY 4....

I can dig it, he can dig it
She can dig it, we can dig itThey can dig it, you can dig itOh, let's dig it

HOW DOES YOUR OUTFIT LOOK?

Outfit?  Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...   May the 4th as in May the Force be with you?  Yeah I ain't decided yet... 'pends on the weather... if it's real hot, its fer sure I ain't gonna dress up like Chewbacca.... Prolly be same ole same ole Luke, or Han.. sumpin' like that...

NO, that's ain't what I meant about Saturday, May 4th.......

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I get it, it's the KENTUCKY DERBY!  How could I forget!  I'm gonna dress LOUD!  There ain't nothing boring about Kentucky Derby attire.. . Mebbe a single or double breasted navy suit.. a silky light colored shirt under... and a HAT.. the Derbys all about the HAT!

And for ma' lady, oh baby, many choices..  THE HAT.  Yep, that. Howabout flamboyant, extra large? Yeah, that works!  Flowery..   then, of course, a dress..  mebbe a polka dot one.. or, flowery.. mebbe chunky heel shoes or wedge sandals for that balance of "looks cool, good on grass, turf, yada."

NO, that's ain't what I meant about Saturday, May 4th.......

I give up Victor, you're being difficult today.

I can dig it, he can dig it
She can dig it, we can dig itThey can dig it, you can dig itOh, let's dig it

Victor I toldya I'm giving up..... the hell are you talking about on Saturday, May 4?

Saturday is WORLD NAKED GARDENING DAY.

VICTOR!  I gotta warn ya.....  These 'Meta' folks (Facebook) ain't got much of a sense of humor.. ain'tya seen the latest warning?

    "Meta announces ban on cursing..
We will begin the process of removing accounts that promote inappropriate humor and offensive language in May of 2024."

Well shiver me cucumbers,. I will try to be careful.  Let me tellya 'bout the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees... and the moon up above, and a thing called "LOVE"...... VICTOR!  GARDENING, STICK TO GARDENING, NO "LOVE".

Drats.  OK, for starters.  Why not?  It's free.. ties one to nature (Careful Victor, don't be tying no one up).. we can be honest with who we are... (Ahm, Victor?  Ever notice mirrors don't give you a side or rear view, and I NEVER said anything about 'tiny implement'. You might not want that honesty being shown.)

OK, let's see.. here's a book on Naked Gardening..  "avoid roses or anything with cacti.. " makes sense, might get pricked (VICTOR! I'M WARNING YOU!)..  OK then howabout 'might get poked'.. (AHM, NO. Not better, Meta's gonna boot you.)... and, let's see. ."avoid using power tools".. duh, "watch out for poisonous ivy and don't forget the sunblock!"  yeah yeah yeah...

Hey Meta?  Listen up.. ALL this comes from the Farmer's Almanac and there's aplenty that are borderline breaky your rules.. BUT.. remember..  I got them at the YMCA. .no, that ain't it.. I got them from THE FARMERS ALMANAC, so don't boot me.  You know, things like "hoes, horticulture, even seeding.. companion planting..  direct seed.. double digging.. fertilizer.. hardening off, orga (VICTOR!).. I was just typing organic gardening, go stand in the shade, jeesh. "season extender.. topdressing.. "

I'd just better tiptoe through the tulips, carefully.  OK, off to garden.

Hey, you look nice today.  Thanks, you too.  Hey, where can I hang up my keys?   VICTOR!  YOU'RE POINTING!  Ahm, yeah?.. I was just pointing at that hook on the house right next to the screen door.  Honey?  Yeah? I'll behave.  I'm all done with sowing my wild oats.  I ain't all into whoever's got the biggest zuchinni.. (man, you can say 'that' again). HUH? Oh nuthin, said 'my hat fell off again.'

Here honey, you look hot.. take a sip.... GOOD GOSH.. is that double the vodka in there? Don't get no ideas there Old MacDonald... we're gardening.. sowing seeds, er, I mean, planting seeds.. DOH, I give up.. go startup the tiller, EIEIO.

This was a stupid idea (L&L is shaking his head right now saying "Damn straight it was!")..

I could never garden naked.  First, I'm ginger.  Second, I really don't like hats. Third, I HAVE seen myself in the mirror..  GOOD GOSH.. I like my neighbors, I don't wanna run 'em off.  Ain't got no mate, so, no companion planting, sharecropping....no green thumb.

I gotta get my mind off of being naked out back. I'll get dressed then peek at the Kentucky Derby field... let's see...  Catching Freedom.. Just A Touch... Forever Young... Epic Ride..  well hell's bells this ain't helping.

Let's see... what else about May 4?   Hmmmm.. .it's National Fitness Day... .National Play Outside Day..  National Weather Observers Day.. National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day..  National Orange Juice Day....

OK, so.. I'm gonna do three jumping jacks (clothed, mind outta gutter).. go outside.. watch nature, the weather.. start a fire in the fire pit..  grab some OJ...  mebbe throw a little tequila in it.. and simply wait for Cinco de Mayo.

Salud...  Bottoms up..covered, or not.. or sumpin.

Love, Victurd

Nothing.......

 What's wrong?    Nothing.

Well, what areya gonna do today?   Nothin.

Tuesday is my kinda sorta my "Nothing Day".  You have one?

Don't get me wrong. I love, love, love me some hustle bustle, days that include morning, noon and evening plans, events - but, just taking the day to recharge me EV batteries (so to speak), a Siesta, mebbe studying my eyelids for a short..  an hour or so of classical music..Non-hump day.

I'm accomplished at doing nothing, you?

Yes Paul, Si Simon... that Sound of Silence is perfect.  Anything cuter than the visual of  "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"?

LOOK, up in the sky, it's a bird (soaring so gracefully) it's a plane (the contrails are a wunnerful example of nothing as they go from skinny but bright, to wide, then fainter, then disperse)... and no, it ain't Superman... it's STARS!  And if you look up, stare at the gorgeous twinklers, just look around them at all the nothingness!  Nothing rocks.

"The only wisdom is knowing you know nothing."  Socrates

Sometimes, levity is wunnerful.  My cousin shared this, I found it fun, and I/we do not mean for it to be offensive, nor to make light of any affliction:

"Okay, so our mom is now residing in an Alzheimer's unit, bless her heart. Though she's not quite on the top of her game anymore she still can be funny, whether she knows it or not. Another resident is a sweet little woman named Marie who hasn't talked in a very long time but she loves to take your hand and give it kisses, graces you with a lovely little smile and twinkles in her eyes. It's all she needs. So I'm offering my hand to Marie today, receiving kisses and smiles when mom walks over, raps Mary on the head three times (softly) and says............"Hello, anyone in there". The nurses witnessed this and almost fell to the floor trying not to laugh and be unprofessional, but, seriously, you have to be made of stone to not laugh. Marie just kept smiling.

Nothing. The Sun will come up. Cars start, go. The clock turns. Work (for many, most) happens. Dinner bell. Diners, lunchrooms fill. Hustle, bustle. Back to grind. Back to roads. Lists, must do's, have to's, GET to's..

Not today. Today is nothing.

Chaos was happening at Walt Whitman High School. Loud. One could not hear themself think. There were seemingly more students IN the office than there were in the hallways, classrooms of Pete Dixon (Room 222), Alice Johnson, others... Principal Seymour Kaufman was at wit's end, pacing back and forth. Finally he announced "I'll never forget April 22nd of last year." Guidance Counselor Liz McIntyre took the bait, "Why, what happened on April 22nd?"... "Nothing. Absolutely nothing." VICTOR? Yes? What is it that sticks out, makes you remember something THAT long ago? Nothing really. Aww come on, we don't believe that crap. OK, Karen Valentine if you must!

"There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed." Ernest Hemingway

I got nothing.

Crickets.

Oh crap, look at the gas gauge.

He's a real nowhere man, sitting in his nowhere land, making all his nowhere plans for nobody. Doesn't have a point of view, knows not where he's going to, isn't he a bit like you and me?

You ain't seen nothing yet. (Is that a double negative Victor? I dunno, I ain't doing nothing today, scram)

All or nothing. Amount to nothing. Assume nothing. Much ado about nothing. Nothing doing.

Rabbit in a snowstorm Victor? Nope, it's a blank sheet of 8 and 1/2 by 11.

The horror of events can bring nothing. An overtime touchdown by the visiting team is met with nothing. Hearing, "it's time to put him down." Nothing.

Nothing is everything. Kinda.

A not so innocent child's face. Spandex. Yoga pants. Common? They hide nothing.

Famous Nothings: Bill and Ted. Cheech and Chong. Peter/Office Space. Bender/Breakfast Club. The Big Lebowski. Wayne and Garth. Bluto/Animal House. Kumar.

I took the class as Pass or Fail. Oops.

The guy infronta me got TWO Snickers.. I put in eight quarters and got NOTHING.

The toddler inadvertently knocked over the half full glass. Nothing.

Hungy, homeless, dirty, smelly, depressed... says everything about someone with seemingly nothing.

Planning period. Smoke break. Halftime. 7th inning stretch. Game's over? Let's play two!

"Nothing will work unless you do." Maya Angelou

Back tomorrow, maybe. Right now, I gotta go do nothing.

I know nothing. Love, Sergeant (Victurd) Schultze

R-E-G-R-E-T-S, find out what it means to me......

R-E-G-R-E-T-S, a little regrets, just a little bit...just a little bit...

And then there was "If I could turn back time." (A. Cher still looks damn good, me thinks she did turn back time... and B. Would then, her life not be as Sonny?)

A quick, Google of songs about regrets...  "Are you lonesome tonight?" by The King..

"Cats in the cradle"

"Hurt" Nine Inch Nails (That would hurt!). .but, fav verson of this is Johnny's, I think maybe his last song he did.. not 100% sure..

"Yesterday"

The site I found had 21 songs... the above.. and then there were a couple by Travis Kelce's girlfriend, Weezer, Kendrick Lamar, OutKast, Aesop Rock, etc, yada, and I have no regrets in never having heard them.

"I made decisions I regret, and I took them as learning experiences. I am human, not perfect, like anyone else."  Queen Latifah.

You tell 'em Queenie, I'll pat ma' foot!

I think we all have some things we'd change, yeah?  One'a my favorite sayings, "It is what it is". Or, as one Carole King sang "But it's too late baby, now it's too late." Wonder why she/that wasn't in the top 21.

This is where I'm going to , bore you.  Sorry.

I would.............if I could go back.....   and, insteada being so dang anxious to get dinner down the gourd, head out on the highway (ie, to front yard to play with cousins), I wish I would asked my grandparents  a kajillion questions about their lives.  What The Depression was like.... how was life before indoor plumbing?..  Who were your heroes?  What was it like when you were a little girl, boy?  What were YOUR parents like?

Journal.  I guess in some respects, this stupid blog IS a journal, but, I wish I woulda kept a daily journal on life in general.  Not that there would be great interest after I'm outta here, and, I wouldn't be upset if it ended up in the dumpster when that time comes with all my baseball cards, thrift store clothes (ha), and federal tax returns from I dont know whyinthehell I've saved 'em so many years.

I would journal FOR ME, my benefit.  Would something like that (YOU doing a journal, have interested you?)..  I'd LOVE reading a journal from my folks, grandparents, even from my kid, grandkids.

In a sense, my grandmother kinda did.. and sorry if I've shared this before.. In her Bible, she would periodically record stuff... "12 inches of snow, February such-n-such, 1943."  "Grandson such-n-such, first steps, such-n-such a date."   Graduations, births, visits there, visitors here, World events, presidential quotes, such-n-such..  Such-n-such interests me.   "Grandchild #5, dialed his phone number at age 3."  <- true. Ha.  24 year old grandkids couldn't do that nowadays!

I think a journal would be cool.  David, like when you started your present business.  Terry, the first year in India....  Susan... to reread how pretty a view you had in Colorado... Jim.. a replay (or an article) of "The Shot" from high school, maybe a few snippets of each and every one of your siblings...  Pie... maybe some logs with little league memories?

Pup, howabout quotes, maybe of guidance, from your folks, grandparents that you've carried with you through the years..  maybe even handed down to your children... or, reread notes from each and every career/life move you made - at least first impressions.. rekindling your memories of the cities..  jobs..

Coach Rich.. your FAVORITE Victory..  I bet too, since I did a tad of coaching, you have your favorite memories of kiddos... maybe not even your best player(s), but, such a good, fun person they meant the world to you, your team.  Bear, mems of your grandparents, folks, growing up in the Ville.. WJC football mems...

Liz, what it was like to be the only girl with Mr. Tom and Mr. Pierce... what it's like living in the house you grew up in, now!

Phyllis.. maybe fond memorites of working in the Hospital... a tale of your trek from Liberty to ? to Washington.. then, across Washington...

If you've read this blog before and your name ain't above, apologies.  I LOVE everyone, and of course, those that occasionally allow me in their day.

Oft times... age catches up with me.  Even regular ole regular conversations with friends.  It always impresses me when, in conversation, a friend remembers something about me from a previous conversation.  I remember much, but not necessariy for long, and not necessariily "who said it."

Have you ever visited with a friend, asked them a question and they reply with  "Remember?  We talked about this...." and ya feel goofy?  Dang I sure have.

A daily journal would end foggy mems.. or, at least douse 'em.  Would you like to go back and read about you and folks in your life?  I sure would.

And............ who knows... maybe some relative down the line would as well.  Imagine finding a journal from a great-grandparent.

Maybe I'm off base, I dunno.  HEY, off base reminds me.. band camp.. playing first base.. hidden ball trick.. it worked once!  Caught 'em off base!  Had I journaled, I'd remember whointheheck "em" was!

You can't go back, no, you can't. At my age, maybe yours too, I don't gtive much of a rats what people think of my ideas, thoughts.  I will never regret going back, remembering. It adds to my piggy bank of happiness. It, somehow, keeps those gone, still here.

"I don't regret what I've been through. I've had ups and downs, super highs and really low, lows. It's part of who I am. There's nothing in life that's so ugh."   Jennifer Lopez

Time marches on.  Memories, eyesight, hearing fades.  Just a thought.

Happy enda April, beginning of May.  Who knows, if you write down what you're doing today, in 50 years a great great grandkid might enjoy reading.

Love, Victurd

Smile........

Plagiarism makes me smile.  Sorry, not really.

"A smile is a curve that sets everything straight."  Phyllis Diller

"Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful."  Thich Nhat Hahn

Polk Salad Annie..... makes me smile.  Tim Conway too.  Carlin, Eddie Murphy. Richard Pryor.

Old friends, new friends, friends.

Dogs, cats, the mirror. Mirror - more laughter than smile, but, lips go in same direction so reckon that helps.

Little kids and their curiosity, knowledge of how to have fun.

A baby's smile. How do they know how?

A penny found heads up -, a twenty in the pocket of a pair of jeans.

Yesterday, boo koo smiles from yesterday.

Errant golf shots.  Ya just gotta laugh.

Farts.  The incredulous sounds some folks make sneezing.  It's kinda like a personality in and of itself.

Pigs when they go oink.  Yoga pants. Oink.

Videos on Facebook where people fall but they ain't hurt.  Like them.

on the radio, you roll up the windows, don't care, sing, smile.

Saying "Have a nice day."

Hearing, "Have a nice day."

Remembering my father being the first one to call me Victurd.

Have a nice day.

A little diddy.. about Jack and Diane... and/or Sally... Sue... Clarice..

NIL, Transfer Portal, NLI, Verbal Commitment.. plain ole plain ole transfer......

Class ring with yarn....     Here comes the (this) bride....    Until Divorce do us part........

Entreat me not to leave thee'...   dayum, did you see how green that grass is?

Victor, I'm highly confused.  Are you going to carry on and talk about Sports?  Or, relationships?

Yes.   I am.

Long ago (and not so far away)....  I sat in the Principal's office.  No, I wasn't in trouble.  I'd taken 2nd place on my dream job of Elementary PE Teacher/Basketball Coach in my hometown. The reason I sat in this office was misogyny, I ain't kiddin'.  Yes, two weeks into the year, a 2nd position opened up.  There was a lonnnnnnngtime PE teacher... and, the District hired a female Principal at the school he taught at. He no likey that, walked out, left, quit, take this job and shove it, I ain't workin' for no female. A little diddy about Jim and Irene. Two sides to every board, but I think I got that right.

(Back to the Principal's office...2nd week of school year)..  So..... There I was, I was taken to a place, The hall of the mountain kings, I stood high by the mountain tops...... NO... that ain't it.

So there I was...  Nervous, excited, hell to the yeah, I got a teaching job, THE teaching job....

I whisper. I do.  Yes, I know, not here. I'M LOUD HERE BUT I whisper in real life, kinda sorta.  In the Principal's offfice... Nice lady, 'cept that other guy didn't think so, he bootscooted, "You lady, or any lady, ain't the boss'a me" or something like that.  Anyways, nice lady noticed my whisper.  Asked "So, you have a nice, soft voice.. how do you plan to compensate for that in your teaching?"

I have no recall of how I answered, but she didn't show me the door other than to say "Seeya Monday."

I forced you to go thru all that to get to......I AM THE WHISPERER.  No, not a horse whisperer.. a whisperer in volume...

Oh, and...  In quitting smoking...HA!.. and... personal finance..  HA!..  and, I am a relationship whisperer..  HA! HA and HA!

Victor, you just wasted however long it took me to read that, ie, precious time in my day.

Sorry.......

Kinda.

And.... the Jeopardy clue is........ "oil, underwear, college selection, mates."

THINGS YOU CHANGE?  I suck at remembering to change the oil...  undies, begrudgingly whether i need to or not..  i did go to 3 colleges before I gradjugated... and uh huh, mates.

This all started, Sport's page... sorry...  THE best quarterback in 'the portal' (PORTAL is fancy for, take this college and shove it, you didn't play me enough, at the right position, I can get more NIL money there, my girlfriend goes there, the weather is better, closer to home, truth being, I DON'T NEED TELL YOU WHY, seeya.)

The #1 QB (and I don't mean to pick on him, just,   an/the example today.)  Originally told Miami "I'm coming (outta HS)..   Let's call Miami "lovely Rita meter maid"..  that didn't work.  "I'm signing with Florida."  NIL money deal fell thru.... "Arizona State, following in the footsteps of my father, here I come."

Four games there (Arizona State)..  hurt knee..  because he didn't play enough games for it to qualify as 'one of his years', he now has four years of college eligibility.  Oh, Georgia. He's going to Georgia.

VICTOR?  Dare we post all your "once was's"?  Nuh uh, I said, jokingly, I was "the Relationship Whisperer."

Victor, this is not fun. In fact, kinda depressing.  Agreed.  Such is life. Many never leave their hometown.  Put that ring (complete with yarn) on a finger, and it's a forever and ever thing.  YUMMY! And, KUDOS!

My OP ED.  Victor, shuddup.  I know, should.  I just think we, football players, basketball players, husbands, wives - give up too damn easily nowadays. No relationship is perfect, and I think 99.9% of the time it takes two to tango/screw it up.  I have long thought... we/two, need to somehow ensure the other is listening, really listening (and willing to) and have a heart to heart before jumping.  Counseling if need be.  SURE, both are at fault.. look into it.  Fix it if at all possible.  Explore, not, hit door.

All that said.........  I've seen car odometers hit 300,000 miles for them there that change their oil every 3,000 miles.  I dun bought me enough undies, I can change 27 days in a row now.  We've all seen kids from transfer portals really improve teams, be happy, a perfect puzzle piece.

Had a buddy get divorced.  Devastation to the point of us worrying about you-know.  Happy to report, TRULY, he's happier than ever, uh huh, with another.

So.  Sometimes, change is good.

Local news is over, grabbing remote, changing to ESPN now.  Soon, time for shower.  Let's see.. yesterday was 'flip day', so yeah, undie change in order today.

Then, quick trip to library. I'll fit right in, ya gotta whisper there.

Then, monthly luncheon with a group of guys I went to school with.   Looks, Si, changed much.  Maturity level (all of us), not so much.

"To improve is to change, to be perfect is to change often."  Winston Churchill.

I hearda him before.  Seems he was either the college recruiter..... a divorce counselor...   worked for Indeed..  owned a Valvoline franchise..  sumpin'.

Got any spare change?

Love, Victurd

Take you back............
